I forgot to watch Summer of Rockets last night, but I was watching the Veronica Mars movie on DVD. The feature about how the fans helped make the movie is one of the most joyous making the movie featurettes I’ve ever seen.

[personal profile] swordznsorcery linked to the BBC’s latest musical extravaganza, a group of various singers and musicians performing 'God Only Knows' and sets it in context, which might be useful if you're not from the UK. I've seen a part of it on TV subsequently, but it's worth seeing in full. Although there are a couple of cheesy moments, on the whole, I love the gilded fantasy touches.

Den of Geek has a nice little overview/look back at Space Precinct

Cue me asking ‘Was it really 20 years ago?’, thinking about it and realising it had to be. I liked the show, which aired in that 6pm BBC2 slot that also gave us Farscape, Buffy and Star Treks, perhaps more for its potential that what it generally was (as the feature acknowledged). The cops in space, crime-sci-fi hybrid set-up is a juicy one. And yes, of course I shipped Jack and Jane. Looking back, the fact that the three main characters were human and not alien seems like a let-down. Wouldn't it have been interesting if Brogan's partner was alien. I was more interested in the Tarns, the alien race that Jane’s partner Took was than the Creons* - the one that most of the other cops were – they had more mystic powers and seemed a bit more, well, alien.

Finally and belatedly, Which Veronica Mars character are you?

I was Mac.

*I don't recall if I've got them the right way around, and I'm not going to root up my tie-in novels (oh yes) to check. The show doesn't have an entry of its own on TvTropes.

Comment here if you want to play, and I will give you three-six couples that I associate with you, and you make an entry in your journal talking about those couples and fics that you wish the universe would write for you.

Three hundred years ago, approximately, helsinkibaby gave me John/Aeryn (Farscape), Lisbon/Jane (The Mentalist) and Wallace/Mac (Veronica Mars)

John/Aeryn (Farscape) – I rewatched the first episode of Farscape recently and obsessed about John and Aeryn’s first meeting here. John/Aeryn are one of my ultimate OTPs, basically.

Rygel: Wormholes, Aeryn, Earth, Aeryn, Scorpius, Aeryn. I'm out of fingers. Want me to keep counting on hers? )

Lisbon/Jane

I don’t want to get into too much spoilery detail, so this will be vaguer and shorter.

Lisbon: If you're right, and I'm not saying you are, it would mean I broke the trust of somebody I trust and respect for your sake. If it is true, I would hope in the future you would be a little more mature and responsible in your behavior. Jane: I'm grateful and all, but let's not go crazy here. )

Wallace/Mac

This is because of the movie.

WALLACE (speaking of himself and Mac to Veronica): This is our gift to you. )

So, yesterday there was squeefulness. What was making me sound like a Hynerian had farted in my general vicinity? Only the news that Justin Monjo is writing more Farscape (here it says 'movie', but I've seen other sources say 'TV movie'. Now while it would be lovely to see Moya flying across a big screen, I basically want more content.) I am letting myself hope that this will come off, because I would love for there to be more Farscape (in the 'comics don't interest me and so don't count' camp. See also Buffy.) speculation )

More likely and definite is that the Veronica Mars movie is going to have a limited run at cinemas in the UK. Depending on the exact times/dates, this may be do-able. Well, I'm going to make it do-able.

I've finished gorging on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Adventure extended edition DVD extras - Richard Armitage geeking out (essentially) over Tolkien is so cool.

And I've just checked on imdb and...Orlando Bloom is older than Lee Pace. That's hilarious/I'm easily amused.

The holiday TV schedule is over, you can tell, because new series of shows are coming back: The Bletchley Circle is back on Monday at 9. I'm thrilled to bits (and motivated to read all the Yuletide fic I can beforehand.) It will clash with the also returning Revenge, which is obviously not going to get watched live by me. I'll catch up with its ridiculousness after.

Oh, and yesterday I tortured myself by watching the Veronica Mars film trailer. I tend not to watch trailers online; I like seeing them on the big screen. No release date for the UK, but there is one for Italy, bizarrely enough, so perhaps I can tag on a 'yet.'

Apparently Channel 5 will not be buying the rights to air season 3 of Once upon a Time. Grrr. Oh, I didn’t enjoy season 2 as much as season 1 - I bought the latter on DVD, although I haven’t rewatched it, and I have no intention of buying season 2 on DVD - but I did want to find out what happened next. I even had hopes that Five would buy Wonderland, even if it was going to get cancelled. I fear some non-Freeview channel is going to get it.

This is great timing, because today I also saw Disney’s Frozen, which was gorgeous and enjoyable. I was excited about it from when I heard about the casting and hoping I’d love it more than Tangled. I thought Tangled was good and I enjoyed it, but I didn’t take it to heart like others did.

The Mindy Project

I think this the first TMP episode I’ve watched on my TV set – and thus I have no idea what the episode number or title were.

I watched Up the Women (episode 3) on Wednesday and spoilers )

Also that night I rewatched an Arrested Development episode that featured Jane Lynch, Julia Louis Dreyfuss and Amy Poelher as guest performers. I thought that was notable.

And then, courtesy of musesfool, I saw Ryan Hansen’s vid responding to all the Kickstarter awesomeness that’s getting the Veronica Mars movie to be made and allowing him to reprise Dick Casablancas. Even if you don’t care about VM, it's wortth watching. It surely made him win at the interwebs the day he posted it.
