Strictly week 8 results show
Nov. 17th, 2025 08:03 amThe opening VT reminded me that there’d been a lot of talk of goosebumps on the live show. Tess had an explosion of sparkles on both her shoulders and Claudia was wearing a coloured item of clothing. Pale pink, but still. COLOUR!
Judges’ talk VT, where Craig said it had been a bit of a letdown, but that was mainly going by his scoring. Motsi claimed her favourite dance of the night was one she hadn’t given 10 to, I think. They talked about the top three couples first, La Voix and Karen were grouped in the middle, and the other three, who hadn’t got a score in the 30s, were put together in the bottom group. More of a chance to appreciate everyone’s eye make-up in this VT, and not just Lewis’s guyliner.
First to be called safe: La Voix and Aljiaz, probably because they’d been in the dance-off last week, along with the top three couples. In the Clauditorium, Nikita led Claudia through a very skippy quickstep.
Then came a brilliant collaboration between Diversity and Strictly, with the ladies giving it some Latin/ballroom energy (with Nadiya referencing Marilyn/Kidman in Moulin Rouge! and Nancy referencing Cyd Cherise) and the Diversity dancers doing their acrobatic, b-boy thing, with just enough actual interaction between the two lots of dancers and styles of dancingas the songs switched from one to the next.
When the judges were up in the Clauditorium, Anton got busted for going the wrong way at the start of the live show. Choreographer!Craig was very peeved.
In the second reveals, they went straight to who’d be in the dance-off. Tough, but fair that it was the joint lowest two couples, and suggesting that when really tested, Vicky’s popularity wasn’t all that. Vicky was clearly nervous, while Balvinder was more used to being in this position, which suggested she had an advantage.
In the Clauditorium, Carlos doing a demo of what a Blackpool paso might be like was fine, until he started wailing. Then another lightweight VT about Blackpool, focusing on the celebs, the edge being that one of them wouldn’t be going.
But before that was decided, Olly Murs performed and worked the studio (if not as much as the Diversity dancers.) I spent most of the number trying to work out if the blonde was Amy (meaning it was a prerecord) or Jowita looking a lot like her.
In the dance off, Balvinder sold it so hard, although I still thought the decision might go to Craig, but no, all the judges, citing music, synchronisation and lack of errors, chose to save Balvinder and Julian. Experience told; she should be proud of herself. Alas, Vicky will not be honouring her grandparents, Kai was gutted, they both spoke well and put in a bit of their triumphant tango into their last dance. Well, all the talk of her being in the final had come from the judges, I suppose.
