shallownessThe cliffhanger was immediately resolved: Edward pulled the trigger, but despite being very close, missed Damien completely. Julia lunged for Damien’s gun while he was smacktalking her son and did not miss. Bleeding out, Damien tried to plead for his life, Edward didn’t think she needed to shoot him again, and mother and son eventually left.
For Athens, where Julia had a safehouse she’d shared with Pavel (who she’d killed, as Edward pointed out.) She got in touch with an old friend/acquaintance who brought a gun and silencer for Edward, (and was relieved to find out Edward was Julia’s son, not her lover, because he didn’t think he was good enough for her, heh.) Julia then took Edward training somewhere abandoned. After one terrible attempt, he gave up, in fact, gave up on hiding too, because it looked like the bounty was for Julia, and tried to get his life back.
After several public telephones had let him down, Edward went to a café, got access to a landline and had his back to the TV, which was broadcasting – as Julia already knew – that he and Julia were suspects for the mass shootings on the island. When he realised this, and that the café owner was probably phoning the police, he hotfooted it out there, only to find the area swarming with police. He had to find smarts to escape, and ended up at the top of an abandoned building. Putting on his sunglasses as if they’d imbue him with superpowers, Edward dared to leap from one building to another – great shot of Julia on the ground, him doing the leap out of focus high up above her.
He returned to the safehouse to find she’d bought vegan food for him and had been genuinely worried about the son she’d been bickering with repeatedly. She was willing to talk through their plans instead of automatically running and hiding. Edward revealed that he’d talked to Ezra (Kayla wouldn’t talk to him) and had learned he was going to talk to Jasper, who knew something about Chantaine, which surely was involved with all of this.
I should take a step back and cover all that happened in France alongside all that. Ezra really was as stupid as he seemed is the main thing. Kayla came home, and Ezra told her he’d seen their dad reading something on yellow paper that he’d tried to hide. She challenged her father, who claimed that as her father he’d never do anything to hurt her, to show her his safe – it was empty. Aaron seemed mostly intent on finding Jasper.
Ezra was taking ketamine, talking to his cougar lover, who was loaded enough to put out a bounty that attracted one of Aaron’s security men. It looked as if the target was Ezra, and he was saved by a phone call taking him back into the house, but actually the target was Aaron, who was saved by Ezra, who is physically brave. This inspired Aaron to say he’d underestimated his son and claim that he’d leave the company to him in due course, but that if Chantaine came out, the company would be in huge trouble. This (and snorting lots of cocaine) inspired Ezra to call the number Marie had left and arrange a hit on Jasper as he knew where he’d be meeting Edward the next day.
Kayla nicked Ezra’s ketamine to sedate her dad and go looking for this yellow paper. (And she thinks Julia's relationship with Edward is dysfunctional!) She eventually found it and seemed troubled by what she read.

Said meet didn’t go great, because Edward didn’t have the money Jasper needed, and Jasper was starting to question restlessly if he could trust him. Julia eventually noticed the park worker we knew was a hitwoman, and shot first, dispersing the crowd. IIRC, she got her, but Edward (and Jasper) were missing.
