About this year's 3SF fills
May. 30th, 2026 06:19 pmI’ve been posting the fills I wrote for the Three Sentence Ficathon this year over the last months, which come to a total of 19. They are: Trip the Dark Fantastic (DCU, Catwoman/Batman), Reunion (Original, OFC/OMC – in my head, anyway), Like mother, like son (Hart of Dixie, Zoe/Wade futurefic, kidfic), Say twenty-six, twenty-seven years later (Original, OCs, future fic), Key change (Original fic, OC), Indictment (Original fic, OCs), Sorceress’s Apprentice (Original fic, OCs), Where the trees breathe and the water remembers (Original fic, OC), More than a reflection
(Original fic, OCs), Drifting away (Original fic, OCs), Impossible (Original fic, OC. Second person POV), Silvery moonlight (Original fic, OC), Your best fantasy (Original fic, OCs), first, last, only (Original fic, OFC/OMC), The Pact (Original fic, OFC/OMC, double fill), Objecting (Original fic, OCs), Picking the future (Original, OFC), In Candlelight (Original, OFC/OMC), King’s Daughter (Original, OCs, triple fill. Teen).
Most of them were original fics, and nine were over 100 words and so long enough to post on AO3. Most were gen fics. I’m not entirely sure which iteration of BatCat ‘Trip the Dark Fantastic’ is. The Hart of Dixie fic isn’t actually my headcanon for their future.
‘Say twenty-six, twenty-seven years later’ is about what the kids of the kids who have been going ‘six, seven’ over the past few months would make of the craze. ‘Indictment’, ‘Silvery moon’ and ‘King’s Daughter’ are probably historical fiction, ‘Drifting away’ may be too. ‘Sorceress’s Apprentice’ and ‘Your best fantasy’ are fantasy. ‘The Pact’ is a romance trope, while ‘Picking the future’ is fictional spy tropes.
I could write about how a few of the original fic are motivated by personal experience, but refracted, I suppose, but instead I will point out that, to my mind, most of the protagonists are female. As for most of them being original fics, I’m not surprised, given how little fanfic I’ve written for years, and at least I wrote something. Actually, a total of 2,064 words. If I could write one standalone that long, I’d be very pleased.
