I never said I wasn't shallow

Last night, I watched Poaching Wars with Tom Hardy because...it’s Tom Hardy, who was clearly sincere in trying to raise awareness of the issue. This episode, the first in a series, concentrated on the poaching of rhinos in South Africa and did a decent job of trying to cover many of the issues: race, poverty, modern weaponry, corruption and crime syndicates (considering it was on ITV, by which I mostly mean it had to contend with hitting the ad breaks). Some of the scenes of animal cruelty were distressing, which was the whole point, but the brutalising damage to the people carrying out the killings was referenced too. Hardy clearly will get on with anyone and everyone (and is an animal lover, especially dogs) and didn’t embarrass himself with his questioning. The outlook for the rhinocerous was pretty bleak, so they ended with some cool sniffer elephants, and it did feature gorgeous landscapes, cute and awesome wildlife and...Tom Hardy. One of the interviewees referred to the smaller species that are more or less extinct (and don’t get celebrities making documentaries about them).

Hilariously, one of the adverts was for Trek memorabilia. It’s like someone in the ITV ad selling department looked at imdb but not at any list of Trekkies’ least favourite movies.

As for the Batman casting news...I'm processing.
