what time is now?
Oct. 27th, 2013 08:51 pmI am surrounded by clocks that I will either have to change or remember are wrong. I watched Strictly and Agents of SHIELD, but there's a lot of other stuff that I'll just have to catch up on (in a week when The Mentalist is coming back to UK screens). So, before Downton, my thoughts on episode 5 of Agents of SHIELD
They moved on with the Centipede and RisingDamp Tide thing more quickly than I expected. And I slightly feel disappointed on the last point, as if they couldn’t bear to have Sky be ambiguous any longer. Now she’s definitely on the White Hats’ side and we know what her mission is – personal, not ideological. She’s an orphan seeking her parents, and although said parents could be quite interesting casting or linked to past Marvelverse stories, it’s not that new or refreshing.
I think the people making this are starting to realise how awesome Melinda May is. Most of her reactions to what was going on made me love her hard.
I also liked Ruth Negga’s performance as amoral Raina.
Stupid ‘Scorch’ (although yes, it is failtastic that they gave him a similar arc to August J Richard’s character in the pilot. Even having Agent Kwan didn’t help with that), couldn’t you see that the pretty girl was using you?
Miles the Hacker was stupid. Also a poor woman’s Jamie Dornan, but mainly stupid.
Alas, poor Fitz, Skye/Ward IS happening. I’d be more interested in Simmonds getting some development. Actually, there were a lot of moments when I wanted other characters’ reactions. I think this is going to be a show where I want it to be more about the whole cast than it’s going to be, and I will sometimes get frustrated with that.
