shallowness: Fred and Ginger dancing in foregroud, him in tails, her in a dark gown, background a white circle (moon or spotlight) (Fred and Ginger dancing)
[personal profile] shallowness
Aliona got starring role in a very good pro routine, full of beautiful shapes, although the new guy/stand-in distracted me into puzzling whether he was Robin.

Both Tess and Claudia looked better and had also clearly decided to exchange colours.

Ashley seemed to have decided to camp it up in the behind the scenes stuff.
It always feels like the reveal of the first in the dance-off happens suddenly. But I am delighted for Abbey and Aljaz and not outraged about Sophie and Brendan. We had resigned acceptance from Ashley and Ola. It’s mildly hilarious that Craigie (!!!) feels the need to comment on everyone deserving 8s, 9s and 10s at this stage. A really convoluted way of saying the audience was wrong from him.

The Saturdays sang live; the song wasn’t very good, but I think the audience enjoyed their back-up dancers and the fireworks.

It would have been nice to have had some other footage of the swingathon in Len’s Lens.

I thought that they wouldn’t announce Susanna and Kevin first of the second batch even if she was safe. They really are dependent on audience love now. So, we were left with the two (black) dancers who’d scored highest – and the audience spoke: ‘We were told it’s the year of the women and we’ve decided that yes, yes it is’ they said. Well, I said it too, having voted for a female celeb.
I thought Patrick was safe going in and I was a little worried about Ola, given the dangerous lift. Ashley seemed looser and mostly better – the last lift that wasn’t aside – than the first time around. Len’s pained face was priceless. I think that the director should cut to the judges’ reactions more often. I thought that Patrick danced better this time around too – but I know nothing of heel leads and which dances they don’t belong in, admittedly. And Ola could clearly be heard telling Anya, ‘You deserve this.’

Sadly, Bruce is back next week.
