The Bletchley Circle 2.4
This didn’t occur to me so much last week, because I’m a dolt, but this was a very similar plotline to The Hour season 2.
Still, the ladies got to use their skills and save the day and shame The Man into doing the right thing. And then they went back to their ordinary lives, but with hopeful adjustments. Ben has no idea how awesome Lucy really is, yet. (I was suspicious of him, too.) Alice has a job, although it’s far beneath her potential – shouldn’t she be crooning over intricate, important machinery? And although taking her daughter’s surname was emotionally lovely, unless if she changed her name legally (I’m hazy on whether this would be possible then) that might cause problems on the day of the first pay packet. And Millie will know that she reunited the sisters, saved as many girls as she could and, well, Jasper’s death may make her live life to the full as much as she can. I hope she gets reinstated as a translator soon, because her breeziness over Maltese and new fluency in whichever East European language it was was awesome.
Also awesome? Lucy’s Looks. The one she gave Millie, I think it was, when Millie doubted her memory. (I may have crowed when Lucy, The Secret Weapon, hovered over Marta’s notebook.) Also the ‘I think I want to kiss you now’ one she gave Ben towards the end of the episode.
Also awesome? Jean, playing her part as a crimelady, but especially the moment she was all ‘you doubt my wound? I’ll show you my wound.’
Also awesome? The breaking and entering into Bletchley, doing their work there and then leaving in the morning. Were the huts left so unprotected in fact? I did like Lizzie’s innocence about them and of her mother and friends’ knowledge of the place.
Lizzie is going to be a fierce teacher.
PLEASE can there be a third series? I don't think there's been any news on that.
As I watched The Good Wife (yay!) and Brooklyn Nine-Nine (amusing, but I don't have more to say about it than that) last night, I think my next catch-up post will be massive.
