The Good Wife 5.1
So good! So glad it’s back. Thoroughly engrossing case of the week (more about which I really don’t feel able to write), while we got updated on Alicia and Cary’s plans and the ramifications of Peter now being Governor. I would have liked a Florrick family moment where they took that in together. Alicia and Peter’s relationship seems to be in a very weird place – surely he’d try to use this new situation to start a new phase.
I was basically chuffed at seeing everyone return. I got to compare David Lee to a certain espionage organisation for his suggestions about the phones. Geneva listened to her better nature. Good to see Jeffrey Tambor as a judge who knew exactly what the lawyers were doing. And here’s Melissa George, pouting away. I don’t think, personally, that that was the best audition to be Chief of Staff from Eli, even if he’s good at ‘what everything will look like’.
And Grace hasfilled out grown up some more. My immediate reaction was that Zach should take the matter to his parents. In fact, I thought it might be a good thing for Peter to have to face up to the fact that his daughter was getting this attention, but it turned out that telling Grace was the better thing, although what can she do about it? And just...she had a poster with ‘HOPE’ emblazoned on it when she saw that she has become an object on the web.
I also thought , despite having clocked that it was something about the chemicals that had set Will’s mind racing, that his last move would be to call Peter (although I wasn’t entirely sure about the jurisdiction) to ask for a pardon, which would have been awkward. But unlikely as there’d be a clear conflict of interest for Peter as Alicia’d worked the case.
Sniff, so many Will/Alicia feelings. I missed what Alicia muttered in their final scene.
Also, look at Peter’s jealousy, and how it’s both wrong (Will was to blame for Alicia joining Cary, but is was mainly professional) and right.
Cary needs to do more than say ‘We’re the new Will and Diane!’ Alicia is in such an awkward position.
With that, I'm caught up.
