Parks & Rec 3.3-3.4

shallownessSorry for spamming, but I didn't want one post to cover both shows, mainly because they're so different and that needed to be reflected in icon choices.
So, I caught up with Parks and Rec last night.
3.3 Time Capsule
Okay, the Pawnee-related stuff – from the slogans to the town meeting/crackpot conference – was funnier than riffing off Twilight, although I hope that a love triangle involving an Eduardo was intentional, as in, they knew they were going to do the Twilight stuff, so they named the character that. The meta of putting in a recording was nice – I like to think that there’s this TV channel that airs all these mockumentaries, (your The Offices, Arrested Developments etc) only in that reality they are all documentaries.
3.4 Ron and Tammy Part 2
I enjoyed how quickly this escalated into absolute Pawnee mayhem. Possibly my favourite bit was Ron picking up the poor, defenceless little man (Tom) like he was (his) son. But I liked that we saw the result of Ron and Tammy’s crazy night before seeing how they got there. His look!!!
I don’t entirely buy that his girlfriend would go back to Canada after all the fuss of a greencard, but yes, of course Ron Swanson would spittake at the idea of his moving there. I liked how it tied into Chris leaving soon, Ann hoping and, despite herself, April getting unwanted encouragement. The feeling that Ann and Andy’s hearts were being broken as Chris (literally!) tried to do a nice thing was poignant. And Ben is smitten, despite falling into Jerry territory as all the rest of them gang up on his attempts to get in on the cool crowd. Aww. But he is still an outsider who is auditing them.
Basically, Icackled laughed more at this one, which is the proper order of things.
And if anyone wants to rec early season 3 Leslie/Ben fics (I'm working through het_reccers), please feel free to do so. Specicifity about when they're set is very welcome.
