[personal profile] shallowness
I tried to catch up on last week’s Revenge (3.11, Homecoming) on 4 on Demand, but it wasn’t available for whatever reason, so I had to turn to Television without Pity. Huh, turns out the recap writer is anti-Jack and pro-Aidan, which is the opposite of where I am. Also, thanks to whatever gremlin was in the works at 4oD, I missed getting to watch an amnesia subplot.

I then caught up on The Autobiography of Jane Eyre

Chance

That’s not the name of that game! (Unless if it is in Canada :))

Of course Simon would get frustrated and carry on playing until he succeeded. They over-egged the comedy a little, but what’s new?

And Jane got a shocking bombshell – I’m not sure that it entirely tracks that the lawyer would get her phone number, or that this would be filmed and posted, but the whole lying down/faint voice reaction was well played.

Double or Nothing

In which Jane rambles to herself/the camera/us about her money, very credibly, except for the coin tossing. I don’t think they needed that as an ending. Even if you haven’t read the book, Monte Carlo? The realisation that she had two, maybe three more real life people she could trust to talk to about this decision was lovely.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine – the thanksgiving episode

Best episode yet. I was continually laughing, yes, at all the strands, from Rosa’s glee at every turn for the worst in Amy's party, hungry!Terry to the Captain getting into Jake’s ridiculous pretend background. The Boyle bingo epitomised how tight it’s got as an ensemble show.

I fell bad for thinking Peretti had stolen the 10k to get out of the dinner. In hindsight, it would have crossed a line he hasn’t really crossed before.

Revenge 3.12

Wan, weak Emily is about to give up, which no-one would believe given that we’re about half way through the third series. But watching Victoria be the one to rekindle the anger, so triumphantly telling Emily that she’d be unable to have kids (I would recommend a second, non-Hamptons opinion) was pure drama.

After all, Victoria had no idea that Emily was about to discontinue their running point-scoring exercise. I mean, her mission.

The other thing you have to keep remembering is whom people have killed so that when Victoria is trying to protect Patrick’s innocence, you recall he killed a man for her (the priest, and even if that was accidental, he definitely meant to kill Conrad), and thus, you can roll your eyes. Aiden having killed Miko(?)’s father and, oops, ‘reconnected’ with one too many ladies, is coming back into play. The second aspect, of Miko's jealousy towards Emily, I could live without, but her being Takeda's daughter makes her a player, for however long. And then there’s Daniel’s nasty side. I’m glad that Sarah is defiantly claiming not to have attempted suicide, but that it was an accident, but really, run. Mr Grayson may keep paying your healthcare bills, but it’s not worth it.

I did enjoy seeing a Sammy toy and it turning out to be a Trojan puppy for Emily to communicate with Nolan.

Meanwhile, Aiden and Jack seem to be forgetting that Emily is a schemer (with agency).
