A few are from this year's Yuletide.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Overcoat: LJS (Giles/Anya, drabble)
Seasonal loveliness.
Eleanor & Park
Nothing Ever Ends, of Five Times Eleanor & Park Argued (Happily Ever After): femmenerd (Eleanor/Park, M)
Lovely fic, plausible (although I'm biased in wanting a HEA for them) and rooted.
Gotham
Advent: Boz, Jim-centric, post 1.10, Christmas fic
This reads like a really, really good episode of the show. Great character voices and interactions.
Holiday (1938)
You’re the Louvre: Tam_Cranver (longish, Linda-centric)
This is the Cases-and-Potters-have-adventures-in-Paris continuation I wanted, but didn't dare expect, and more so.
Legally Blonde
Take a Girl Like You: _starrystarry (Elle/Emmett)(technically it's musical!verse)
This fic about the progression of their relationship is utterly charming
Elle’s got this look like she’s trying to be clever and nonchalant but her smile’s like Christmas lights shining through.
MCU
fade in on a girl: waketosleep (M for violence, language)
Heartbreaking Natasha’s backstory that gets the tone right.
I wish I could buy back the woman you stole: waketosleep (M for language, violence)
Its even better sequel brings the past into Natasha's post-Avengers movie future.
you don't have to stay (but you have to come back): zauberer_sirin (Bruce/Natasha)
A well-measured, well-written look at beginnings for Bruce and Natasha.
where the air is rarefied: Siria Darcy/Sam, teen, post Captain America 2
Really good balance between the serious, the crazy and the breezy coping mechanisms as Darcy helps Sam adapt.
Man of Steel
Revels of the Alien: fresne (Lois-centric Lois/Clark)
Clark invites Lois to Smallville for Christmas. She is just so much herself here, it’s great.
New Year’s Eve
Do You See What I See?: kalisgirl Ingrid/Paul
I’ll quote the author’s notes: These two adorable fools are the best part of the movie an all I wanted after I watched it was for them to be happy together in their May/December romance.
And it is a happy-making fic.
Only Lovers Left Alive
For the Moment: lexigent
AU: Human, present-day Adam and Eve meet for the first time. He's playing music, she's listening.
This captures their different intensities irresistibly. (If it were any other fandom and if the writing weren’t so good, I’d probably take issue with how the dialogue is rendered.)
Pacific Rim
Untitled: songandsilence
Gorgeous Mako/Raleigh ficlet written for the prompt he offered me the universe but inside my heart there's a picture of a girl.
Sherlock
Cabbie: colour-me-troll
Excellent 1.1 gen vignette
Snow White And The Huntsman
Wait to Feel the Old Year Go: theswearingkind (gen)
Outstanding telling of Snow coming of age.
She has always known the sight of the sea, sometimes calm and gently rolling, other times frenzied and furious, but she learns, those summers, of what it means to lose sight of the edge of the world across an endless flat expanse of farmland, and of the sight of mountains that rise so high she cannot see their peaks above the clouds. All this, she knows, will one day be in her care, as it is now in her father’s. It is a big thought, but she likes how it fills her insides; it is a thought she can grow with.
Star Trek
Long Live: Llin (ensemble, all live action flavours)
An absolutely joyous vid, I watched it with a growing smile as it wove connections between the various iterations of Trek.
TNG/DS9
Disappear: Raven (ensemble)
Really haunting vid about identity, full of interesting juxtapositions.
DS9
The Captor: daystarsearcher (Odo, Kira gen, more if you squint, pre-series AU) quite long.
Odo's Cardassian superiors gift him the young terrorist Kira to do with as he pleases; he accepts in order to save her life. But he doesn't want her. In any sense of the word.
Fabulous, really well thought through on Odo’s perspective, the situation on Terak Nor and the complex and compelling interaction between Odo and Kira.
The next recspost, whenever that is, is likely to feature a lot of Festivids vids.
