4.5 Meet ‘n’ Greet
Ha, first thing I thought when not being amused at April’s high level of enjoyment of Halloween was whether Ben knew about this party. Of course he didn’t. The Ben backstory we’re getting this season is more depressing than what fandom came up with.
Leslie’s hair was really pretty at her meet and greet.
April and Andy’s ‘toolbag’ was exactly what you’d expect it to be. And, again, Ann worked well with Ron (who might have found her an acceptable apprentice, but never referred to her by name.)
Andy’s method of dealing with Ben was...what you’d expect, and very sweet, plus perfect for Ben’s passive-aggressiveness. I loved how April skewered everything.
The Li’l Sebastian appearance in the video about Leslie was perfect, and explained her description of Tom. I’d have probably used a lot more nasty adjectives, though. I expected her yelling at him in the hot tub to have more blowback – until the second she just sat down in the pool, fully clothed, in solidarity, which made me laugh at the unexpectedness of it, while loving the friendliness of it.
4.6 End of the World (I didn’t know the episode title until I looked it up just now)
Learning that Pawnee was run by a cult for a bit in the seventies was oddly perfect. Could anything in the rest of the ep top that?
Well, the fact that they were following up the cultists gathering in the park because they believed the word was ending helped, with Leslie/Ben awkwardness as they obviously weren’t on the same page of handling things. Cue lots of Leslie rambles. "Nay"!!!
I love how Andy and April still...work. No thinking! Stupid! But they went together to the Grand Canyon, she’s his enabler in a good way, and given everything else that was happening romantically on this show, I’ll take that. Also, given that Chris Pine has become a Legit Hollywood Action Hero, that whole action star sequence was hilarious. Also, hello April's sister.
Lucy kissing Tom on the lips when she had no intention of following through was a bit cruel, really. Also, although the gag of him looking at the two cameras was funny, it’s easier when they don’t engage with the fact that this is a documentary, because it’s so patchily done. When and where is it airing? It’s not a fully integrated conceit, so when the characters bother to acknowledge i beyond the looks to camera, I wish they wouldn’t bother.
The juxtaposition between Tom’s party and the gathering at the park was perfect.
I’m trying to reassemble my brain after a just-woken-up Ben in a black t-shirt. Leslie went big on the crazy overreaction there, and knew it. Ron got through to her where Ann couldn’t, which is not new. However, I have faith that Leslie will stop Ben from making babies with other people and wake up to him in black T-shirts a lot in future.
Dave are advertising themselves as having the rights to all the rest of Parks and Rec, which is pleasing. Do they mean to air them all with no break? I can’t find the channel on my Freeview (some channels drop off and reappear at a whim), so I may have to play catch-up.

They're fairly accurate, but I think ‘Friends to Lovers’ is so high because I associate it with slowburn i.e. long, satisfying fics. The Reincarnation/’25 Lives’ AU trope is so high, because I reasoned it could encompass Espionage AU and all the other Aus – and if Space AU was an option, that would have come really, really high on my list.
