shallownessI haven't done a recspost in ages, so I've got quite a bit to go through - the next one of these will be longer. Fanfiction and fanvids in the following fandoms: Alice (2009); The Bourne movies; Brooklyn Nine-Nine; Fairy Tales (The Sleeping Beauty); Firefly
Alice
No Fixed Abode: funkyinfishnet Hatter/Alice, Hatter-centric
Post-miniseries, this gives us Hatter trying to settle in our world and fulfilling his obligations in a Wonderland that's rebuilding. His voice and perspective on things are a treat when done well, as is the case here.
The Bourne Movies
Certain Dark Things: Jae Marie/Jason, set between Identity and Supremacy
I like how this is about Marie's agency - her dealing with her choices and motiviations.
Hide, Stand: Endlessblue Nicky/Jason, long
I love slow burn stories that take their time to do justice to the characters’ issues, where they are emotionally, and takes the reader along with them as they get to a place where they can move forward. Really well done (apart from minor quibbles about not sticking to one POV).
broke everything new again: Siria Aaron/Marta, post The Bourne Legacy
I really liked this. I could stand to read more of how she writes them and yet I felt satisfied by this glimpse into their lives.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Red Fish, Blue Fish: kasuchi Jake/Amy, early season 1
Really enjoyable, gets the show's tone, the characters and their relationship right.
Fairy Tales (The Sleeping Beauty)
Waking: Dira Sudis Gen, longish
A really satisfying story, that fits into the larger story, with a fully rounded heroine and a sense of the impact of the enchantment on a kingdom over the generations.
Firefly
Keep On, Keeping On: colls Zoe character study
Such a perfect song for Zoe, for one thing, but what a multi-faceted character study this is. Really, really good.
