I have managed to repost more fic here and at AO3 over recent days, and to update the text on LJ and ff.net where necessary.

Notes: With thanks to lusmeitli for the beta. All idiocies and weirdness are mine, but the characters are not, and I make no profit from them. Spoilers up to 'Objects in Space' and for HBP. Inspired by Air’s ‘Kelly Watch The Stars’.

I thought this batch of recs would be done in two posts, but it's been so long in the doing that the list has grown. And I'm aware that with everyone gearing up for Christmas/Yuletide, it's far from brilliant timing. Fanfiction and fanvid recs in the following fandoms: Alice (Sy-Fy), Community, Cormoran Strike, Dead Like Me, Firefly, Gotham and Harry Potter.

This is not news if you read my Dreamwidth account as opposed to my LiveJournal one, but I managed to repost four fics last week, by which I mean posting the text to the original posts at lj and posting them for the first time at Dreamwidth and AO3 (and updating the versions on ff.net). All four are from November/December 2005, two are Dark Angel fics and two are post-Serenity ficlets.

And you will know me by the trail of my asskicking (Dark Angel) R (for language and mature themes). Max/Alec. 2,385 words. First posted: November 2005 (lightly edited August 2016)
Summary: Alec is still haunted by Max. Bitch.

can't wash out the blue (Firefly) PG, OCs, River Tam. Drabble. First posted: November 2005.
Summary: a threat.

Untitled Mal/Kaylee kisslet (Firefly) PG, Mal Reynolds/Kaylee Fry, 227 words. First posted: November 2005. Summary: As per title.

Retrieval (Dark Angel) PG-13. Max/Alec, past Jondy/Alec, 3,103 words. First posted: December 2005.
Summary: Max didn't think; Alec is trying to protect himself. (Author's Notes: 'She Ain't Heavy' ended slightly differently. AU from that point on.)

And then I wrote a new ficlet.

What your mama can make you (Nashville) U. Juliette Barnes, Cadence Barkley, Avery Barkley, (background Juliette/Avery). 237 words.
Summary: Juliette writes a song for Cadence.

I saw the prompt at [livejournal.com profile] comment_fic, wrote a draft, but because I hadn’t seen season 4, I felt I should do some research to avoid it being canon-fodder, which I was able to do on Sunday - I hope it's all right on that front. I blame the prompt for making me thinkof the show.

I've also been working a little on some of my WIPs. Before returning to reposting, I hope to get around to posting about other stuff.

I watched Pitch Perfect 2 on DVD last night, having been unable to see it in the cinema. I thought it was a bit of a mess, suffering from sequelitis. It coasted a bit on liking the characters from their previous outing, the actors' charm - Hailee Stanfield is a welcome new addition, in particular - and it is funny in an offbeat way. The musical numbers were generally my favourite parts.

I enjoyed Bill, which I saw in the cinema a few days ago, much more unreservedly. It's the Horrible Histories team doing a Shakespeare biopic and it's very, very funny in an inclusive way, kids will love it, accompanying adults will love it and so will people who know their Shakespeare. Not always for different reasons, either, because doesn't everyone laugh at silly voices? It left me smiling and shipping spoiler? )

The thing is, I probably laughed just the same amount when I saw the trailers for both films, but one stuffed most of the film's best jokes into the trailer, while the other had more to choose from...

[personal profile] purple_cube asked for my fannish timeline over the past ten years - which fandom I most associate with each year etc.

Picking one fandom for some years was really hard, because it turns out I’ve always been multifannish, which the nature of livejournal encouraged. But here goes!

I have been making an effort to watch as much of this week's It Takes Two episodes as possible, seeing as its the last week. A good point that came up was that all the pros have been in the final before, but haven't won, adding a little edge to it. Denise van Outen popped up in my dream last night and I felt obliged to be very nice and polite, saying that I'd found their rumba touching, all the while hoping that she wasn't telepathic because I was thinking 'but I'm never going to vote for you and I don't think you'll win.'

Two insta!recs

Wash/Zoe, set during 'War Stories'
Gorgeous fic with great character voices. It left me wanting more, even though the story had come to its natural end.

Nancy Drew

100 situations 41/100: ndnickerson AU Nancy/Ned for adult language and references

In which an all-grown up Nancy takes her boyfriend Ned home to meet Hannah and her father for the first time.

He hadn’t missed that she was wearing the necklace he had given her, showing above the first button of her printed shirtdress, and during the entire drive to River Heights, he asked her about cases he only vaguely remembered her solving. By the time they crossed the city limits, he was shocked that she had made it past her eighteenth birthday. Thrown down a well to drown, poisoned, drugged, tied up against an ocean pier, concussed countless times and always making it out by the skin of her teeth.

I don't know whether I'll have internet access again before Christmas (how will I survive? Books.) So, Merry Christmas!
