With several fics from Yuletide, fanvids from Festivids and all sorts.
10 Things I Hate About You
10 Things I Hate About Reunions: BryroseA (Kat/Patrick)
Bianca’s hilarious input is the icing on a delicious cake of a more mature, but not really tamed, Kat reconnecting with Patrick.
Arrival
the end is the beginning is the end: quadrille (Louise/Ian)
A sympathetic expansion of the film and depiction of Louise's state(s), giving us more of Louise and Ian’s interactions.
The Bourne movies
these fragments have I shored against my ruins: vegarin (Jason/Nicky)
A rich, satisfying story that expands on what we knew about Nicky. Here, both characters still struggle with accountability, but the story quietly offers hope for them.
Dark City
Sunny Days: bironic (gen)
An effective, ironic vid. (Prepare to be earwormed.)
Dirty Dancing
Waiting for a Voice to Come: Arsenic ('Baby'/Johnny)
This is about Baby's self-determination. I loved how she sees Johnny and is willing to fight to make it work after the events of the film.
Enchanted
Five Reasons to Be Happy in Andalasia (and One Thing to Miss from Reality): Dira Sudis (Nancy/Edward)
This made me smile - it's clever and charming about how a modern New Yorker becomes an Andalasian queen.
Galaxy Quest
Starman: purplefringe
This vid does the film (which I rewatched last year, as I suppose many of us did) justice.
Ghostbusters (2016)
Get Loud: heresluck
This vidlet celebrating Holzmann is great.
Haywire
State of War: starlady (gen, violence)
HOW I enjoyed this, a really great action vid that captures what I love about the film.
Let the Right One In (the original version)
She Walks in Beauty: bironic (Eli/Oskar, canon-typical violence and gore)
This vid was really powerful - the music worked well for the yearning and the admiration and the horror of their connection.
Pacific Rim
The Naming of Foxes: tielan (Raleigh/Mako, strong teen)
Gorgeous writing. I loved how the history of the Jaeger programme, the other pilots and members of the team weaved themselves into Raleigh and Mako's lives, but how it was mainly them dealing and processing.
Snow White and The Huntsman/Huntsman: Winter's War
From Darkness into Light: Jedi Buttercup (Snow/Eric, spoilers for both films)
FIX-IT FIC! Love the treatment of Eric and Snow's feelings and the development of the magic here.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
The Long Haul: yahtzee (gen, pre-series)
This is a good study of Kira and her mixed feelings about the imminent arrival of Starfleet's representatives at the space station. I really liked the depiction of the Federation as the 'haves' of the universe, while Bajor and its representative is a scrappy survivor.
Veronica Mars
Finish Your Collapse and Stay for Breakfast: katjen (Mac/Dick-ish)
and its sequel
It’s All Gonna Break
This is all about them not coping after Cassidy and what he did and how perhaps there's only one person who gets that. Evocative writing.
