shallowness: Catwoman looking at the Batsign in the Gotham City night sky (Catwoman watching Batverse films)
[personal profile] shallowness
POI 1.14 Wolf and Cub

AWWWW. Reese tried so hard to stop Derek from becoming Robin given the time and means that he had. From the comic book store man’s speech (I sussed he was too good to be true and I thought that Noah would be so sad) to Derek’s Ronin stuff, I was getting pretty emotional.

There was also Harold and Will, and the threat of Will reaching out to Alicia, but she lied to protect him, and he gave her more than she’d known before. And Fuscoe passed it on to Reese, which is interesting. It was only with the Wren alias that I made the Finch + bird name connection, because I was thinking about Robins. I feel spectacularly slow and guilty of underestimating the show.

I love that there’s a number of the week, but the continuing story gets developed, from Fuscoe and Carter working together and apart for the same purpose for different goals, to the return (?) of the dodgy captain and Andre being another element of the organised crime that Elias is a part of – was the reference to kneecapping a reference to him?

AND The Machine wants to protect its daddy. I am so sucked in to this verse that I love its AI self, I barely flinched at Finch using his intrusive tactics on Will. I am even thinking that I want to buy this on DVD, although I suspect that’s also down to Jim Cavaziel’s face.

Revenge 2.07

(sigh)

It felt like a lot happened. So, we have discovered what Emily’s endgame may be – that after doing what she has to do, she plans to confess to everything and do time, aligning herself with her daddy, only she'll be guilty. Of course, she may be lying (and she probably hasn’t considered other people EG NOLAN and what they might do). Mason asks how long will this take: until the network cancels the show, dearie. I felt like being patronising towards him as he had apparently not made the Amanda is Emily and Emily is Amanda connection, only twigging that they were in league, even though ‘Amanda’ had just had to convince him she was Amanda. Oh, Mason. I also snarked about his wallboard of connections – I wonder if he learned to back his info up after all his work was torched last season.

Emphasis on making us feel sorry for Emily (Van Camp gives good stricken face) what with her mother causing havoc and then leaving, having three or four plates to juggle, Nolan making his sacrifice and finding out that Amanda would be marrying Jack and getting her family. I thought that if Aiden hung around long enough, he’d get in there after the last blow. And so he did.

Kara, I thought you were awesome, and there were many times when you were clearly Emily/Amanda’s mum, but what FBI agents have English accents? Blah blah off her meds – seemed to be thinking fairly clearly to me, though. The tension of her not knowing she was talking to her daughter when Emily/Amanda had claimed her true identity to Madon was great.

I wonder if the Initiative have detected any of Emily’s involvement yet? Handily, the Graysons are blaming them for everything that is going wrong. OH, CONRAD and your love for your wife. Because it is there. Victoria is only getting a glimpse of it's depth in extremis. And it’s twisted with hate and all they've been through and done to each other, but still.

My antennae twitched at the development of the Porters’ new partner (and brother) having stuff against Jack’s noble dad and all the local people, who had been painted as noble good poor folk, in contrast with the Greysons and their poodles, who had had to sell out their homes to the Nolan’s of the world. Think of the possibilities. Maybe Papa Porter wasn’t all that good (and this may set up the return of Mama Porter). This could be interesting. And it may stop Declan's stupidity from infecting Jack.

And then they tried to put the Emily/Nolan genie back in the bottle, with Nolan going all ‘what are your intentions?’ to Aiden. The effect was faintly comic. Partly because of what Nolan was wearing. Then there was ‘the only family I have’ – but what of your aunt who was so important to you last season? Dropping the ball like this doesn’t help me care for what the show wants me to care about. And the longer it goes on, the more that I can see that however manipulative and dangerous they make Emily out to be, they dodge having her pull the trigger a lot.
