MotL ep 7 ep 58 (watched on Wednesday)
Maria of the Lu 7 was charming sister stuff (her own brand of awesome) if one ignored the nepotism.
Ep 51 - Yay Charlotte and Lizzie together again! (But heh, shadowed by Ricky Collins). Extra cheers for the doodling all over Lizzie and use of editing to cut out RC’s praise for his VC. Yay that Charlotte didn’t have to marry that. Oh, and the take-off of Lydia’s theme made me happy. I daresay it would get annoying, but I sort of want it for my ringtone.
I was all pro Lizzie finishing her studies, but this seems like a neat way to further the story (and use their new set a bit longer!)
Royal Dining – I loved that necklace and the green on her, has Lizzie ever looked better? The view of the car park made me laugh. The suitably patronising yet random list bodes well.
Annie Kins – hah, Anne de Burgh is dismissed as easily as Kitty (and by putting Catherine de Burgh on Team Caroline, they, well, I’m not sure how that’ll affect the ending). The impersonation of CdB was probably the funniest (apart from Ricky and Lydia’s work. AND HE HAS SO FOUND HIMSELF THINKING OF THAT TIME THEY DID RE-ENACTMENT WITH SURPRISING LEVELS OF ENJOYMENT. Well, he does like bossy women after all.) I only realised the reference to swimming in hindsight.
Good call on bringing back the Lydia vids. And Mary. And it was nice to see the outdoors!
55 was self-indulgent, but fun. Heh to Lizzie getting a glimmer of how Charlotte’s been manageing her all their lives. At least they’re not shying away from Darcy’s weak spot by having Lizzie definitely ask him if he’d come across Jane.
FITZ! (Good call on making him gay from the off!) Likeable, different perspective, not taking anything too seriously. He can come back!
Aww, Lydia & Mary.
And he did come back and was still likeable despite doing stuff that could well be annoying. Man has CHARM. Also, this episode gave me the cut tag text.
Heh to Darcy coming visiting and being AWKWARD.
Well done Mary for turning the tables on Lydia. She talks game, but...yeah. Interesting to hear her flat out say what she did about George. And this is why
Mary is wiser than Lydia. And not at community college.
Care Packages was almost perfect, with me thinking Fitz has to be in charge of Lizzie’s bachelorette in due course. The accidental one-upmanship of the gifts he’d brought – and all he knew, presumably, was that he was helping with a care package to cheer up Lizzy B’s sad sister, and his attempts to spare Lizzie...Aww. My one niggle is he should have noticed her reaction when he tried to talk up Darcy. I was literally making guillotine signs at the screen.
Lydia ep 12 – episode 60 (watched on Thursday)
Whoa! I got the desperation underlying Lydia’s party-going, but VISITING JANE!? That’s going away from the book some little. And a big deal in and of itself.
Angry!Lizzie, condiment!Lu and Collins (delayed jetlag!? what’s wrong with a headache?), sad!Jane, and, fittingly, given Halloween, headless!Darcy. (They’d better explain the in!show reason for cutting that vid there.) FINALLY! Of course, he wasn’t actually wearing a dickie-bow, but it was close enough to make total sense.
Don’t cut it there, Jane! Now is not the time to want to protect your baby sister’s privacy! Who was the boy Lydia was mumbling about?
And the Halloween greetings from Lydia and Jane were nice and bizarrely entertaining, but did they move the story along? No.
Ep 60: Are you kidding me!
No, are you kidding me!? (See the use of the interrobang, which I feel is better.)
THIS. THIS – first that we had Lizzie acknowledge the issues of showing what happened next. (In universe, I think it didn’t wholly work with when she cut off from the last video, even though she was clearly so upset and wound up that she wasn't thinking straight, but it was such a good dramatic choice that I can handwave it. Same thing about Lydia’s vid about going to see Mary and then Jane)
Secondly, HELLO THERE, DARCY. Also, bless the actor, I mean, that’s THE Darcy scene and he had to do it cold, match up to her - and they matched beautifully, sparks flying and I can fully understand the fandom EXPLODING - and it fit in with what’s come before. And just the translation of the dialogue, how subtle a lot of the alterations were, with the Lizzie flavour. And his snobbishness and her righteous anger over Jane and the shakier ground of Wickham and that Darcy’s clearly so head over heels, even though he is being a prat. AND THEN SHE THREW UP THE VIDEOS IN HIS FACE. And I was all ‘Oh, Elizabeth!’ and THAT IS AWESOME.
And then, actually, I had an epic coughing fit (I’ve had a bad cold for days.)
And I will rewatch this – the only ones I’ve rewatched were the Jane/Bing ones for research and the Lydia vs Mr Collins one for fun.
Actually, after some thought, I’ll probably rewatch from Care Packages on of the Lizzie videos and the last but one Lydia and Jane one. It's partly that I can and they're so short and easy to watch, but also I really want to.
