shallownessI’m lazy, so my top 5 fics in terms of hits at AO3 are: Comprehension, my Mansfield Park Fanny/Henry story, which has been steadily getting feedback since I posted it. I think it’s been linked to recently at the Jane Austen fanfiction index. It’s over 2,000 words, which is long for me and getting to the length that I as a reader think of as good for a short story.
What’s in a name a Downton Abbey Sybil/Tom and their baby ficlet (if I discounted ficlets, there wouldn’t be much to talk about), which was jossed by the third series as I suspected it would be when I posted it.
Magnetic North my longest Push fic and a decent length for me. It’s Cassie/Nick futurefic with amnesia, and was recced.
Favoritism – a Jane/Bing futurefic/ficlet that I wrote soon after Bing appeared on the LBD. (This was months after he really appeared on the show.) I haven’t dived into LBD fanfiction as a reader yet, but I think that maybe there’s a lack of stories for this pairing.
Birthday Girl – Push, Cassie&Nick (with underlying Cassie/Nick), which is about Cassie growing up with Nick in her life, also recced and my second longest Push fic.
Top five in terms of hits: Comprehension, Magnetic North, Birthday Girl, Keeping Watch and It had to be dolphins. Keeping Watch is a The Losers/Push crossover drabble that’s about two characters played by Chris Evans, while It had to be dolphins is a comic PG vignette about Sky High’s Warren/Layla (one of many that I’ve written.)
Comprehension is at the top for comment threads, but Magnetic North for bookmarks.
AO3 doesn’t archive all my stories yet (must get on that). FF.net has a more complete list, and there, the top 5 views are:
'Undone' and 'Clasp' X-Men, Linked W/R ficlets (and not even these two combined top 1000 words).
Promise (Harry Potter, H/G ficlet about Harry, the Dursleys and family).
Candlelight (Sky High) Layla/Warren established relationship ficlet.
So far: a piece in five sense (Penelope) Penelope/SPOILER ficlet. This is a pretty rare fandom.
Siren (The OC) season 1 Julie/Luke ficlets and one of my highest rated fics.
Comprehenison is at the top for most favs (story favourites) and feedback there too. I don’t know how big Jane Austen fandom is, but I suppose that a lot of people in fandom will have read all of Austen’s novels and so might read fic about it. I can’t judge how popular Fanny/Henry is, I’m too caught up in my feelings about the pairing, which is one of my biggest non-canonical literary ships, always has been. I’d dare to suggest that the ship’s got the good girl/bad boy thing going (and I think Henry is the unsuitable male character who goes furthest for the heroine in Austen’s novels i.e. proposing to her and deciding to prove to her that he is serious after she refuses him by wooing her by playing nice with her family’s approval. Until you know what happens.)
I don't think this is going to change what I write, though.
