shallowness: Kira in civvies looking straight ahead (Neville and plant)
As seen via [dreamwidth.org profile] smallhobbit, part 2 of the AO3 meme. Questions 1-6 here.

7. Seventh Most Common Relationship:
Original Female Character(s)/Original Male Character(s). Figures.

8. Eighth Drabble Posted:
I Love You In MPH (ER) Neela/Ray future fic.

9. Ninth Most Common Character:
Neville Longbottom (Harry Potter)

10. Tenth Mature and/or Explicit Fic:
Not applicable.

11. Eleventh Most Recent Completed Fic:
Cub (Sanditon) My ‘how Leo got her hair cut’ story.

12. Twelfth Most Recent Story in Your Sixth Most Common Tag:
My sixth most common tag (Three Sentence Ficathon) only has 11 fics in it, which goes to show I’m erratic in my use of tags.

I skipped question 13 because it was about titles.
shallowness: Side profile of BTVS's Tara looking upwards with text reading 'grace notes' above (Dark Tara grace notes)
I was saddened to learn yesterday of Michelle Trachtenberg’s passing at only 39. I hadn’t watched Gossip Girl, so she’s always been frozen as Dawn, the youngest Scoobie, in my mind. And now, if the Buffy reboot ever gets off the ground, she won't be able to be a part of it in any capacity. But obviously for the people who knew and loved her, the loss is greatest.

The AO3 meme, as seen at [dreamwidth.org profile] musesfool

1. Most Hits: Comprehension Mansfield Park - Jane Austen, Henry Crafword/Fanny Price. His marriage and his sister's wedding help Henry to see more. 9,685 hits. Still absolutely the fic that I've written that's had the most impact.

2. Second Most Kudos: Extreme Action Sky High (2005), Warren Peace/Layla Williams. Fake-out make-out. (Layla’s idea.) 591 kudos. The film is 20 years old! Must rewatch this year.

3. Third Most Comments: As above. 22 comments.

4. Fourth Most Bookmarks:
When we were strangers (or five ways Layla and Warren never met)
Sky High (2005), Warren Peace/Layla Williams. Five ways Layla and Warren never met. 42 bookmarks.

5. Fifth Most Words: Be Careful…Always Dark Angel, Max Guevara/Alec McDowell. Two phrases. Two speakers. Different universes. 3.577 words (for me, that’s unthinkable these days.)

6. Fic With Fewest Words:
distance in your eyes Dark Angel, Logan Cale/Max Guevara, 51 words (it’s poetry!)

Aaand that reminds me that I still have fic that I need to repost here and at AO3, and before that I should probably post my three-sentence fills, none of which are over 3,500 words.

My what AO3 tag are you? result:

consensual but not safe or sane
you're a little bit feral, but that's okay—you weren't socialised as a puppy. it's not your fault. you mean well!
shallowness: Margaret Hale of North and South adaptation sitting at desk writing (Margaret North and South writing)
I have managed to repost more fic here and at AO3 over recent days, and to update the text on LJ and ff.net where necessary.

What agents do Jake 2.0, G. 228 words. Jake Foley. Vague spoilers for ‘The Ultimate Human Upgrade’. Summary: Jake's clearance was low, now it's high, really high. (June 2006)

How to hurt Mr Invulnerable Sky High, G. Will Stronghold, (Layla Williams/Warren Peace). Post-movie double drabble. Summary: Mr Invulnerable? Will Stronghold’s not that guy. (June 2006)

A flyer expects Sky High, PG-13. Josie Stronghold (Josie Stronghold/Steve Stronghold). Pre-movie, 1,576 words. Summary: She literally floated through her pregnancy. (July 2016.)

Parallax Firefly/Harry Potter, PG. Jayne, Luna, River. Spoilers up to 'Objects in Space' and for HBP. 432 words. Summary: Simply put, it is the apparent shift of an object against a background due to a change in observer position. [Wikipedia] (September 2006)

I just read an excellent fic that I would rec here, but it's locked to AO3 users, so it felt pointless because of the caveat, but then I thought I could post a link to my AO3 bookmarks, if you want to have a look at all that I've bookmarked there, as it will likely get updated before I do my next recs post. And if you look for 'Favorite Stories' here, you'll find the equivalent on ff.net.

I should have posted this and something else yesterday, but I was DOING STUFF. Anyway, I was reminded upon seeing another meme that I normally do this one this month.

I’ve been reposting some ficlets to Dreamwidth and AO3 the last couple of days, one Dark Angel gen, baby’s first Sky High ficlets: two featuring Warren/Layla pining and one gen fic from Principal Power’s POV. I’ve still got a pile of fics to repost whenever I have the bandwidth. Trying to work out what I was thinking when it came to formatting and titles of documents in 2006 was a challenge..

Last night, I took advantage of the fact the BBC now has Battlestar Galactica on the iPlayer and I can watch that on my telly and watched the first part of the miniseries. I’m in – I thought I would be, but I was also curious, because I come at it having read some novelisations of the original series (don’t judge), not being able to see it when it first aired, but having picked up a lot by fannish osmosis.

I posted two X-Men: Dark Phoenix ficlets over the weekend. One was ‘broken promise’ a Scott POV prompt fill responding to the events of the movie, and the other was ‘The Most Dangerous Player on the Tour’, a tennis AU take on the events of the movie. Jean being the player in question. This is what happens when I go to see X-Men Dark Phoenix on the closing weekend of the French Open. I’ve started many tennis AUs in my time, but never posted any before. I suspect no actual newspaper would publish anything like that, but it was fun translating characters and their mutations into the world of tennis.

I saw that people were doing a first lines meme just as I was about to post the above – dilemma! What do you do? I swept through my first lines of the last 10 fics on AO3. Some I liked more than others. I was chuffed that they were all from 2019.

Fine. I’ll do the last lines meme.

As seen repeatedly on the reading page (last week)

List the first sentence (or two because a couple of those first sentences are quite short) of each of the last ten fics you posted.

The OPI Summer Challenge via [personal profile] musesfool.

The puns made me do it! Using OPI nail colours as prompts, this seems a low-key fanworks challenge (at least 500 words for fic, so if there's something that inspires me, I could manage that) for the summer. You can prompt without filling and fill without prompting. I have prompted stuff I'd love to read, so...

I published two (three sentence) ficlets on Tuesday, both gen, focused on two female characters I hadn’t written before. They were originally posted at [dreamwidth.org profile] 3sentencesfic at the end of March. I’d hoped to write more ficlets for it, but I didn’t manage it. (However, I’ve just seen an intriguing meme...)

Bear, Woken (HP, Minerva McGonagall universal) and Perseverance AOS, Jemma Simmons, teen? Spoilers for 3.05.

Moving on to TV I caught up on or watched a few days ago, but haven’t had time to post about, and starting aptly with Agents of SHIELD 3.12 Inside Man

Finally for now, I saw Zootropolis (can someone explain why the title was changed from Zootopia in the UK?) which was very entertaining. Judy Hopps, ILU. It features 'bunny saves fox'. I hope there are sequels - there's plenty of potential in the world they've created and the characters that inhabit it - and I see that AO3 has hundreds of fics already.
