shallowness: Catwoman looking at the Batsign in the Gotham City night sky (Catwoman watching Batverse films)
Home. Fandom: Smallville. G. Whitney Fordman (background Whitney/Lana, Clark/Lana). 250 words. First posted: June 2006. Summary: Whitney never got to find out who sent him the copy of The Torch.

Notes: Inspired in part by MollyTM’s ‘Shades of Gray’. Takes place during early season 2, but spoilers up till ‘Visage.’ With thanks to FridayAngel for the beta.
Disclaimer: The characters are not mine and I make no profit from writing this.

I meant to finish watching this season over the Christmas holidays. Not only did I fail, but I left the disc behind where I was staying, so it took me a while to get this done.

Again, I found these last three episodes much of a muchness qualitywise, with the finale maybe edging it.

My next TV show DVD boxset is OUaT season 1. I'm rather excited about whether the show will stand up to the rewatch.

These four eps were much of a muchness, quality-wise. I’d probably give ‘Void’, another horror-tinged episode, the edge.

I last posted about Smallville in May. I’ve found it’s best to leave a good long while between watching each episode, but I have finished disc 2.

Season 5, episodes 5 'Thirst' to 8 'Solitude'. spoilers )

On Tuesday, in the middle of all the horrible news, it was announced that Joss Whedon will be taking over directing duties on Justice League from Zach Snyder for tragic reasons. Obviously, one hopes that this helps a grieving family heal.

Wonder Woman (please be good! Not that I saw the show or read the comics, but as a woman who goes to see comic book movies, we're due one about a superheroine that's good) is occupying my brain more. But apparently the news about the merchandise isn't great.

Anyway, I’m watching Smallville season 5 for the first time on DVD. (I’ve been spoiled for a few big things on the show over the years. And the next DVD boxset I will go through will be a better show, but I’m watching it with much nostalgia for my experiences of the fandom for the first year or two. Quick recap: CHLOE.)

The colour palate is very striking, coming off the greys of metal, glass, stone and shadows of Person of Interest. I’m also rewatching the Pirates of the Caribbean movies right now, which has the blues and greys of the sea and brown and black of the ships, so the warm, bright, sun-kissed hues of Smallville, where everyone’s outfits are colour-coded, jumped out at me.

Apparently some people find round-up posts like this obnoxious. May I suggest scrolling or not clicking? For my part, yes, it's self-promotion, just in case, but it's also a chance to write a little about the writing process or what the fics mean to me. Anyway, if you're interested, over the past week and a half I've reposted the following:

No friend to those with noses (Dark Angel) G. Joshua, Alec. 488 words.
First posted: Late December 2005. Summary: A smelly cat is no friend to those with noses; Joshua has a snout.

A clear view (Dark Angel) PG. Alec, Max, Mole, Dalton (Max/Alec implied). 880 words.
First posted: January 2006. Summary: Alec rescues Dalton, Max is furious at how he did it and Terminal City gets entertained for free.

Days, weeks, months and years (ER) PG. Haleh, Neela and Ray. First posted: February 2006. Two post ‘Dream House’ 12.06 drabbles.

Yesterday, I crossposted: Epicinium (Smallville) Teen. Lois, Chloe, Clark, Gabe, Lana. 2,682 words. Coda for 4.8 ‘Spell’.
Summary: The aftermath of the eighteenth birthday party that Lois and Chloe don’t remember.

Notes )

I don't know if I'll be able to continue reposting fic as regularly, although given that I'm only up to the start of 2006 and only started Dreamwidth in 2009, I don't want to stop again.

Title: Epicinium
Fandom: Smallville
Rating: Teen
Characters/Pairing: Lois, Chloe, Clark, Gabe, Lana.
Summary: The aftermath of the eighteenth birthday party that Lois and Chloe don’t remember.

Disclaimer: I don’t own these characters and don’t profit from this fanfiction.
Author's Note: 2,682 words. Coda for 4.8 ‘Spell’. Potentially triggering references to non-consensual sex/lack of consent issues. ‘Epicinium’ is Latin for aftermath or afterwards. Written because Chloe didn’t get to enjoy her birthday party, all Lois’s work was for naught and I wanted to recognise that. I hadn’t seen beyond this episode when I started writing this fic. This fic hasn’t been beta read, so constructive criticism is welcome.

I’ve opened my season 4 DVD boxset of Smallville, which had been gathering dust for a couple of four years. I blame my reluctance for getting it out on rewatching season 3. I think I’m going to have to pace myself and manage my expectations. I’d seen the first episode of season 4 when it aired live and then didn’t watch the rest. Looking over my Smallville tag doesn’t offer an explanation as to why; I suspect scheduling was to blame. So, everything after that is new, although over the years, I have been spoiled for some big developments on the show, but I don’t know when.

Six things about the first six episodes of season 4

I’m disgruntled to find out out that Much Ado... is not showing anywhere near me this week (cinema weeks start on Friday). I would have gone to see that before Man of Steel. Now I’m thrown into my usual dilemma about big films that I want to see but am not desperate to see, whereas with the latter it’s just a matter of getting there as quickly as possible. I want to avoid long queues/sold out showings, which means not going to see it immediately, but I don’t want to get spoiled by other people who have been to see it – in that part of the world where people don’t use spoiler tags. Or, indeed, lower their voices.

All I know about this film is what I’ve seen of the trailers, really, no spoilers, just spec. Cut for length as I talk about Superman and me. )

I was reminded recently that I'd written this vignette about a catburglar and a billionaire (no, not that catburglar and not that billionaire.)

Title: Bad ideas.
Fandoms: Dark Angel/Smallville
Rating: G.
Characters/Pairing: Max Guevara, Lex Luthor.
Genre: SV Futurefic, Gen, Action.
Word count: 416.
First posted: December 2005.

Summary: Max tries to steal from one Lex Luthor

Disclaimer: Not mine. Playing only.

Spoilers: None specific for Smallville. Most of season 2 of Dark Angel.

Notes: This scene came to me, and I’m posting it because I don’t think I’ll ever get around to telling the rest of the story. With thanks to FridayAngel and izabelevans for betaing, all idiocies are mine.
