shallowness: bright flowers in vase against green background (flowers that remind me of Layla)
As I haven’t been watching any TV that I’d post about (I will get around to it, and with the bank holiday, this week will be lighter), I reposted a fic yesterday!

Sweet (I could be your favorite girl), The O.C. PG. 368 words. Kaitlin/Spencer. Summary: Over the years, she’s been getting better and better at having things her own way. Fluff. Established relationship. Future fic. (First posted in April 2007.

I only lightly edited it, although I wanted to do something about the first two paragraphs and all the uses of ‘nibbling’, but it would have been too much. Wow, that was only a month after I last reposted a fic.

Apparently The Wheel of Time is cancelled (is it my fault for not getting around to watch the third season yet?) :( In possibly good news, I saw that pictures from Zootopia 2 were released. Admittedly, sequels don’t have a great record (especially of original properties), but I am excited about more adventures with Judy and Nick and exploring the world further. It will all come down to the script. While I get it that they won’t be developing the ship, and that's fine, that's what fic is for, I don’t want to see any love interests for either.

Sweet (I could be your favorite girl) The O.C., PG, 368 words. First posted: April 2007. Pairing: Kaitlin/Spencer. Fluff. Established relationship. Future fic.

Spoilers: This is set during Valentine’s Day, several years after the events of ‘The Case of the Franks’ and only takes that ep into account.

Author’s note: I wrote this vignette because Kaitlin seemed so sad in that ep, and I remembered how she really liked Spencer. The title is taken from the Gwen Stefani song ‘Sweet Escape’.

Disclaimer: Not mine. Don’t profit from ‘em.

Summary: Over the years, she’s been getting better and better at having things her own way.

I reposted a ficlet yesterday: That Cooper Family Christmas Feeling, The O.C. PG. 280 words. Kaitlin, gen. Summary: Alt!world Kaitlin’s Christmas Eve night. AU. Post 4.07. ‘The Christmukk-huh?’ (March 2007)

Very seasonal! (Or not.) Very niche, as it expands a bit on the alt world Ryan and Taylor visited. Lightly edited from the original version.

Me a few weeks ago: Why is YouTube promoting this trailer at me?

Me last week: OH, it’s an Amy Sherman-Palladino project about ballet (never did get to see Bunheads) on Prime.

Me after watching the trailer: Oh, I am so watching this.

This is me after watching the first episode.

Before that, I reposted a ficlet yesterday:
Feeling Fine The O.C., G/Universal. Kaitlin Cooper, Drabble. Summary: Mothers and daughters. Spoilers for ep 4.07. The Christmukk-huh? (March 2007)

I am reassured that AO3 has it at 100 words, as did I when I counted each one out – Word said it was 99. No editing required, although I don’t love the title. It’s from spring 2007, when The OC’s fourth season (the only one I have on DVD) kept inspiring fanfiction. If it were as easy to repost all my fics as that was, I would have caught up by now.

I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and all that. (Mine has been unfortunately sleep deprived.)

It occurred to me I had the time and space during the build-up to Christmas to get back to reposting fic (I’m not writing any new fanfiction), so I reposted a couple here and on AO3.

Je me souviens, every single thing, The O.C., PG, Taylor/Ryan implied. Coda to 4.04 ‘The Metamorphosis’. 169 words. Summary: I remember every single thing. (February 2007).

Do Atwoods dream of French dictionaries? The O.C., PG. Ryan, Kirsten. Past Ryan/Marissa, Ryan/Taylor implied. 380 words. Missing scene for 4.04 ‘The Metamorphosis’. Summary: Ryan had a weird dream. Coffee and Kirsten don’t really help. (February 2007)

I don’t have much to say about them. Looking back, I think they’re slight, but they show how taken I was by Taylor/Ryan in season 4 of The OC. (I had an absolute HTML-related nightmare updating the masterlist after ‘Je me souviens’.)

Suitably, the finale edged it of the four episodes on the fourth disc.

So, I am now rereading Taylor/Ryan fics and about to move on to watching Burn Notice season 3 on DVD.
shallowness: Sky High's Warren Peace smiling (Warren Peace smiles!)
I'm actually halfway through the next and final disc of episodes because there's been so little TV drama on that I want to watch at the moment. I mean, I've rewatched parts of The Mentalist and NCIS: LA episodes (and programmes about houses, quizzes and the news, which this is not the space for.)

I found the four episodes on this disc much of a muchness quality-wise. I watched it to be amused and ship Taylor/Ryan.

Remember how I am rewatching The OC's fourth season on DVD?

The next DVD boxset on my 'To Watch' pile was Burn Notice season 3, but as all the dramas I’ve been watching lately are spy or spy-adjacent adventures, I needed a change, and skipped to The OC season 4. It’s the first time I’ve rewatched the show since it aired, apart from seeing bits of a subbed episode somewhere on holiday. I accept the first season was probably the best, but this was the season of Ryan/Taylor, which I loved to bits, so I bought the DVDs second hand.

Anyway, the rewatch is an exercise in nostalgia – I’m still enjoying the title song – california! )

And yes, I was motivated to post 'EXHIBIT: Sharp-suited Man' because I watned to rewatch this.

On Tuesday I posted my first new fic of the year and the first one for six months: Extreme Action, a Sky High, Layla/Warren futurefic. It was first drafted in July 2015, which wasn’t a wonderful time for me. Having a title that would suit an early 90s action flick better than a fluffy tropefic appealed to me, apparently. Anyway, a couple of months ago, as I was doing looking through some drafts, I found that this one didn’t need much work – usually I have stalled before coming up with an ending. In the editing process, it passed the thousand word mark, et voila.

For completeness on Livejournal: this spring, I’ve also reposted the following fics at Dreamwidth and A03. Read more... )

In other news, I got my mitts on a second hand copy of The OC season 4 boxset, which is a delight. It is, after all, the season when Taylor Townsend made Ryan Attwood smile.
