I posted three ficlets this month (I meant to post them more closely together). They’re all Scorpion, either PG or U and all three are outsider POVs of Walter/Paige.

About that )

My next post will probably be about Strike, but I might as well wait until I've seen tonight's episode.

The Ties That Bind. Scorpion. Universal. Ralph Dineen, Walter O’Brien, Paige Dineen (Walter/Paige). Summary: Ralph observes a morning ritual.
Speculative future fic, written after watching ‘Satellite of Love’. (I haven’t seen beyond season 2, but I know that season 2 wardrobe choices joss this.) 438 words.

I don’t normally post about books here, but I do read, if more slowly than I once did. Last week, I read ‘How The Marquis Got His Coat Back’ by Neil Gaiman, a long short story in its own swish little book. It’s a Neverwhere story, so Read more... )

I’ll try to do this disc by disc, after this post, but a guest asked a question about the characters’ choices at the end of this ep in response to my fic about it, and this seemed like a good opportunity to get my thoughts about Walter and Paige at the end of this episode down.

Never Let Her Go. Scorpion. PG. Cabe Gallo, Walter O’Brien, Paige Dineen, (Walter/Paige). Summary: Cabe is watching, and Walter and Paige are uncomfortable, not just because Happy’s driving. Triple drabble. Inspired by the prompt ‘lap sitting’.

As you can tell from the episodes, I’m referring to in my fic, I’ve got well into season 2, and have caught up with the point where I started watching the show on TV. Anyway, I thought this was a strong run to the end of the season.

Achilles’ Heel. Scorpion. Universal. Dan Smaisley, Walter O’Brien, Paige Dineen, (Walter/Paige). Summary: Dan Smaisley thinks he’s found Walter O’Brien’s Achilles’ heel. Spoilers for 2.6 ‘Tech, Drugs and Rock & Roll’. 390 words.

I posted a ficlet. How Pandora Felt (After Opening the Box) Scorpion, Paige/Walter, post 2.01 ‘Satellite of Love’. About that. )

I also watched X3, after debating with my completeist self whether I wanted to, really. It’s so bad, but I hope to get Dark Phoenix on DVD soon, which is not so bad, and I wanted to compare.

X3 is such a drop off from X2 (which I watched the pervious weekend and X-Men the weekend before), although it is not as bad as Batman and Robin. It doesn’t misjudge its tone so much, although some of the lines are equally bad.

Some of my problems with X3. References to other X-Men movies. )

How Pandora Felt (After Opening the Box). Scorpion. PG. Paige Dineen/Walter O’Brien. Summary: Paige. Leaning against the door. After.
My take on the last scene of 2.01 ‘Satellite of Love’. 427 words.

I posted a ficlet (mostly last weekend, but I only got around to posting it at AO3 this morning) looking at you looking at me (Scorpion, Paige/Walter, spoilers for season 1).

looking at you looking at me. Scorpion. PG. Paige Dineen, Walter O’Brien, (Paige/Walter) Summary: It’s late, or early, Paige gets Walter to take a break. Written for the prompt ‘any, any, Don't want to close my eyes/ I don't want to fall asleep/ 'Cause I'd miss you, babe/ And I don't want to miss a thing (Aerosmith)’ at comment_fic. Spoilers for season 1. 800 words.

shallowness: Catwoman looking at the Batsign in the Gotham City night sky (Catwoman watching Batverse films)
Since lockdown, I’ve made Saturday night movie night, and rewatched my The Hobbit and LOTR extended edition DVDs and now all my Batman movies (which don’t include the live action TV series, the animated stuff or Batfleck). The Lego Batman Movie capped it off very amusingly as it riffs off past iterations. I was going to list them in my preferred order. Indeed, the other week I was going to list some of what is wrong with Batman and Robin, (so much!) but Joel Schumacher recently passed away, so maybe now is not the time.

Mainly about my emotional investment in the above. )

This bunch of episodes is about the team shaking down and introducing regularish guest characters.

The DVD boxset I’m currently binge watching (by my standards of ‘binge watching’) is Scorpion season 1. I went into it spoiled, because I started watching the show’s second season, enjoyed its cracktastic nature, team feels and canon ships. I gluttoned on fanfiction and then thought I might as well watch the whole thing, bought this DVD set and the time to do so was now. That’s because it was next on the pile as much as the whole lockdown thing. But I’m guzzling it down.

I’m going to break it up into blocks, rather than follow the discs. So, the first three episodes:

Giri/Haji did do well in the BAFTA TV nominations. It feels like a very long time ago! It was stylishly daring and had THE outstanding scene of 2019 for me.
