I’m quite happy, with the news that The Mentalist is getting a 13-episode seventh and final season. Although I liked the ending of the sixth season, ( wishlist )

This is probably me over-reacting, but there's a story (and there’s little more to the ‘story’ than the headline so I can't be bothered to hunt up the link again) that Keira Knightley has nixed the idea that she’d return to the Pirates franchise, which is no surprise, given that she seems to have chosen a lot of indie-ish dramedy/comedy things and dramatic parts*, plus it was obvious that the wheels had come off for her in the third movie. I know this isn’t a story, we’re still at the casting rumours stage for Pirates of the Caribbean: We Had A Tax Break from the Australians, So Why Not? and it was probably one question in an interview about plenty of other things. In the same vein, I understand that Orlando Bloom has said he’d be open (but probably in answer to one question in an interview about some other stuff) BUT they’d better not kill off Elizabeth Swan and bring in the little Turner to have paternal angst. They’ll probably and I'm conflating POTC with all the other movies. It'll probably be fairly standalone with Jack Sparrow shenanigans in Australia, and, frankly, so long as Barbossa turns up, I will live with it. BUT STILL.

Ah well, the first movie will always be good, and every time I watch it, I will think ‘huh, Elizabeth really is the protagonist.’

*I probably will go and see The Imitation Game and feel renewed sadness at the cancellation of The Bletchley Circle.

Worth recording because I have a tag for it they happen so rarely, or because I remember dreams so rarely, I had a The Mentalist dream last night. I think I knew I was watching it as a show. It started off as Lisbon-centric. A woman, possibly Kim, although Lisbon seemed to be in more of her CBI team leader role, was trying to get her to do something preposterous. Lisbon wasn’t having any of it and you knew she was going to win the argument. Her hair was shorter, but sadly, really limp. Then Jane appeared, and his hair had been shorn too. I was getting really excited to see how they’d show Lisbon and Jane together now, so this was happening after last season, but then the dream moved on and transformed into something completely different.

Obviously, I really don’t want the bad hair aspect to come true when the show returns.

Yesterday did not turn out to be a slobbing about day. That will be today, but I did catch up on The Mindy Project.

The Mentalist 6.17 Silver Wings of Time

So, apparently there are cancellation rumours regarding the show – I don’t know if that was why they did what they did at the start of this season or not. I was aware that things have been quieter in fandom, but I think the show has been slowly peeling people off for the last three or so seasons and there’s the migration from livejournal too.

It would be a shame, because I think they’ve established a pretty decent new set-up, although it’s quite a departure, in some ways, and mid season 6 is late in the show’s run, but goes along with the change in the main character’s life.

To recap, we had a pointless break from Person of Interest on five – isn’t season 3 airing in the US now, so I don't get why it was off for several months. I barely remember where we are in terms of the overall arc (specifically I don't remember who knows what).
